Tracking food shouldn’t feel like homework

Most nutrition apps ask you to search, weigh and log every ingredient. Platewise asks for one photo.

Logging a meal the usual way

  1. Search for each ingredient
  2. Guess which database entry is right
  3. Estimate grams for every item
  4. Repeat for every meal, every day

About 5 minutes per meal

Calories and macros from a single photo

Platewise identifies the different foods on your plate, estimates how much of each is there and adds up the nutrition for you.

  • Recognizes several foods on one plate, not just a single dish
  • Shows every item it found so you can see how it got the total
  • Fix a food or portion with a tap, and Platewise learns from it
  • Nutrition values based on USDA food data

Values from photos are estimates. You can always review and edit them before they’re saved.

Frequently asked questions

How does plate scanning work?

Take a photo of your meal in the app. Platewise’s image recognition identifies the foods on the plate, estimates the portion of each one and calculates calories, protein, carbs and fat using USDA nutrition data. You review the result and add it to your day.

How accurate are the calorie estimates?

Scanning gives you a quick estimate, not an exact measurement. A photo can’t weigh food, so portions are approximated. You’ll always see each food Platewise detected and can correct any item or portion before it’s saved. Corrections also help improve future scans.

What happens to my photos?

Photos are used only to analyze your meal and are stored in your private account. We never sell your photos or personal information, and you can delete them at any time from your settings.

Do I have to follow the meal plan?

No. Some people follow the plan closely, others mostly scan what they eat. When you eat something off-plan, Platewise rebalances the rest of your day and week around it.

Is Platewise medical or dietary advice?

No. Platewise is a nutrition and meal planning tool for healthy adults. If you are pregnant, have a medical condition or follow a diet prescribed by a clinician, please talk to your doctor or a registered dietitian first.

How do I cancel?

Go to Account, then Subscription, and select Cancel. If you cancel during the free trial, you won’t be charged. If you cancel later, you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
